An unexpected addition to the family…

Yep, but not what you might think (or maybe exactly what you might think)!!

A few days ago I traded my beloved but small-wheeled Honda NSS 250 scooter (65 mpg at 65 mph, 75 mph top end) for a 1978 AMF Puffer (6 to 8 knots, beer per hour correlation optional).  A Puffer is a 12.5′ sloop with an open designed-cockpit, 90 sq. ft. of sail, and a lively demeanor.  We tested her (with an incorrect rudder) last Saturday in the Davis Island seaplane basin (full of boats these days… no more seaplanes) and out a bit into Tampa Bay.  She will be a fine addition to our family… we can all fit (in a pinch) or any two of us can take her out.  She will single-hand ably as well.  Justin, given the honor of naming rights, has christened her “Discovery”.
