This post is not about sailing. But it is about life. Life stolen in it’s prime by a deranged individual. Of life left behind… and, with help from people, hope for a life in the future.
On October 26th, 2010, Larsen Hunt, a single mother of a 5 year old child, and a nurse who worked at the same hospital my wife works, was murdered by her former boyfriend. A restraining order didn’t stop Jason Skinner from shooting Larsen in cold blood. His exact reasoning we’ll never know, because in the ensuing police chase, Jason Skinner crashed into the only vacant home on the block he led police down, and was consumed by the flames that engulfed his automobile.
Now Larsens’ son Aidric is without a mother. Grandparents care for him, and love him a lot. Aidric needs love. And care. Specialized care, because Aidric has been diagnosed with Autism. Aidric’s Autism, in fact, drove Larsen to the career path she chose to follow: that of a neo-natal care nurse. Larsen went far beyond what many of us would realize needed to be done to care for an autistic child, but this care needs to continue.
If you can, please take a moment and donate something to Aidric. This can be done through the following link: http://www.hope4aidric.org/
As a society, we can’t stop all crime, but we CAN help those victims who need it. Please consider helping Aidric in his time of need. Thanks.
